Shrapnel

Lookin’ back before this devastation,

When the world was green and young and free,

Dreams were a smorgasbord to choose from,

We were all a Company,

The wars came: and the world blew up,

People murdered people killed,

Until even that was not enough

Then torture started as the strong willed!

Everything became scorched earth,

Nothing meant by all the swords,

As the old sit in the broken streets,

Rocking back and forth without thier feet!

Now I gaze around the sunset fired smoke,

Now there isn’t even ganga left to toke,

No escape from this hell we created,

When we mated,

You and I with our shrapnal blown across the sky

All the hopes and dreams we had and it isn’t even sad

CAUSE THESE RUINS ARE SO OLD NOW!

And the old ones on the streeet they are just ghosts at my feet,

CAUSE THIS OLD EARTH’S WAY PAST MIDNIGHT NOW!

I will think of what once was

A million years ago

but so long now my heart has turned to rock

You are like the dreams become

I do not wake to the sun

So I can live there where green once grew TICK-TOCK-

Went-the-clock while we murdered Father Time

Now we sit here with a bitter seed

Starving to death with our need and we are not so far away

A million years ago…

Yesterday.
