Sleep My Love

Sleep is trying to embrace me
Pushing away
Closing my ear to
It’s whisper
It promises such lovely things
This life cannot know
All the lives
I live
When I make love to Sleep
Never wanting to awaken
Running through green meadows
Dancing in the sun …
Like happy children do
Seeking my qareen
Met once while seeking death
Yet sleep is real
It asks to hold me close
It promises such lovely things
More real fantasy than here
Where deaf mutes chirp
Speaking with mind pictures
Melting into embraces
Beyond imagination
Of this poor
Human expression
We call ‘Love’.
